# Configuration Administration

Configurations are essential elements of a Keep system, because they enable users to add documents to the Keep archive and then search for and retrieve them.

## Add Upload Configurations

Upload configurations enable users to select document files, provide metadata for them, and upload them to the Keep archive. For information about creating upload configurations, see [Add an Upload Configuration](/v1/docs/add-an-upload-configuration).

## Add Search Configurations
