How Do I Manually Specify the Network Interface to Use for Particular Port Bindings?

Prev Next

Some ports use a public interface that is automatically selected at startup based on predefined criteria. On multi-homed servers, this can cause issues if cluster nodes need to use a specific network interface.

Follow these steps to replace the automatic selection with a manually specified network interface:

  1. Log in to the management console on the PDC and navigate to the Runtime tab (see 1 in the image below).

How to select the target node on the Runtime tab.

  2. From the left menu, select Hosts (2), and then the target node (3).

  3. Click View (4) on the selected target mode.

  4. From the left menu, select Interfaces (see “a” in the image below), and then from the Name list, select the target interface, for example, public (b).

  5. Click Edit (c).

Selecting the target interface type from the Interfaces page.

  6. Under Advanced, clear any unwanted configuration options.

  7. Do one of the following to select the network interface you want to use:

  • In Inet Address, enter a specific IP address, for example, 192.168.100.101.

  • In Nic, enter the name of the network interface that you want to use.

  • Select Any Address to apply an interface wildcard that will use any suitable interface.

7. Restart the cluster node to make sure your configuration changes have been applied.
